About this Service
Ballard geothermal inspections evaluate systems installed in sandy glacial deposits and higher water table zones common near Salmon Bay and the Locks. They suit bungalow owners, new construction sites, and waterfront properties that often use horizontal loops.
Inspectors check trench backfill, loop routing, fluid conductivity, and corrosion risk from marine air. Horizontal loop performance is measured via flow, delta‑T, and loop pressure tests; fluid chemistry and inhibitor levels are tested where salt or high groundwater could affect heat-exchange fluid.
You receive a condition and performance report with corrosion notes and recommended fluid maintenance or component replacement. In waterfront situations, inspectors may recommend closer monitoring, since exposure to saline influence can affect surface components even if loops remain long-lived.
